The Arenal Volcano region is located in the northern part of Costa Rica, within the province of Alajuela, near the town of La Fortuna. It is part of the larger Arenal Tilarán Conservation Area.
Varies from 200 to 1,650 meters above sea level, with Arenal Volcano reaching 1,670 meters.
Tropical wet climate with high levels of rainfall throughout the year.
Generally warm and humid, ranging from 20°C to 30°C (68–86°F), slightly cooler at higher elevations.
Dense vegetation with tall trees, lianas, and epiphytes.
Streams and rivers such as the Río Fortuna provide rich riparian environments.
Open areas interspersed with hedgerows, pastures, and plantations support a range of adaptable bird species.
